To reimagine an entirely new type of vehicle, we based the QX Inspiration on the principles of modern Japanese design and architecture. Elegant creases throughout the body are influenced by origami and signature color treatments were inspired by Japanese lacquerware and ceramic work.
The exterior follows the Japanese spatial concept of ‘Ma’, which considers the open space between lines to create tension.
Smooth surfaces that replace the grille are framed by aerodynamic channels that divert air over and around the body.
The headlamps laser-like etching pattern is echoed throughout the interior and exterior.
A sleek, long roofline peaks in height directly above the front row of seats.
The QX Inspiration’s silhouette concludes with a sloping, aerodynamically-efficient Kammtail rear.

Starting with a blank slate allowed us to question everything about vehicle interior design. Taking advantage of the space an electric vehicle (EV) has given us, QX Inspiration introduces a lounge-like interior rich in luxurious, unconventional materials to create a relaxing space for four.
Following the principle of Japanese hospitality ‘omotenashi’, the interior draws occupants in from the moment the clamshell doors open.
The cabin creates a welcoming, open atmosphere that invites occupants to unwind in comfort.
Resting against the polarized gold tinted wide-screen monitor is the soft leather-appointed steering wheel with a display all of its own.
Timber louvres on the roof create a tranquil mood — flooding the cabin with beautiful patterns.
Calming interior ambient light settings are inspired by the colours of Japanese spring.
A hand-quilted leather-appointed seating area is generously proportioned for two passengers.
The QX Inspiration reinvents the modern vehicle — pioneering a new approach infused with references to Japanese art, culture, and design.
